This was an amazing week in astrophotography. We had the Perseids meteors, the Northern Lights, and images from the JWST (James Web Space Telescope). I love space photos.
We got to see some of this stuff at the same time.

I almost like space photos as much as cat photos. I mean, look at these stars!
That's Clyde and Olive.
The JWST imaged an actual exoplanet 12 light years away.
Think of that. Not long ago, we didn't have any proof of planets outside our solar system. Then, we started seeing shadows in front of distant stars with radio telescopes (no direct visual proof). We assumed those shadows were planets passing in front of those stars. Since then, we've discovered a lot of suspected exoplanets. And, we've made a lot of assumptions (guesses) about them based on various filters that are used on radio telescopes. But, now, we actually saw one—with our own eyes. I think that's pretty cool.
Almost as cool as seeing an actual cat:
That's Sage.
And, if you haven't seen Josh Dury's image of the Perseids over Stonehenge—you have to!
It's almost as awesome as this picture of Shale, Clyde, Olive, and Figgy. I'm just saying…
And, then, there is this amazing shot of the spiral galaxy Messier 106:
And, then, there is Shale.
Happy reading. Happy writing.
We were unable to see much of the Perseids here in Rockport due to so many bright spotlights and porch (flood) lights in my neighborhood. Why? We don’t have that many murders. Moving on from paranoia, you’ve given us very fun photos and entertaining writing. I don’t recall learning the word ‘exoplanets’ till today. Thank you. Cats and meteors and Northern Lights. It works!
