Hello!
You are receiving this because you clicked on an ad in Facebook (a while ago) and signed up to download my science fiction book, Proteus Begins. It's the first book in the Proteus Unbound trilogy.
Thank you for that!
If you got around to reading it, I really hoped you enjoyed it. If you didn't get a chance to read it, the free download link is still available and below.
If you really, really liked it, please feel free to post a review on Amazon. Or, reach out and we can talk about it.
If you hated it, sorry about that. Please send me a suggestion for a book I might hate and I’m happy to waste my time reading it, and I will thank you for the experience.
Are it the lentils trying to tell you something about teleportation?
I'm writing to announce that I'm going to be sending newsletters about stuff that interests me and hopefully you: science, fiction, writing, independent publishing, and the absurdity of all of it. And, maybe some other stuff, too: I read, watch movies, take photos (like the one below of comet NEOWISE in 2020), do some computery things, cook and eat, and a whole bunch of things that may or may not interest you.
I write science fiction because I love science and fiction and how humans negotiate both and spend time at the intersection.
Sometimes it's scary, like the first Alien movie or giving a real gun to a real autonomous robot. Often, it's fun, like the movie Flash Gordon or that some octopuses throw things at each other. And, at times, it's absolutely absurd such as John Scalzi's book Starter Villain or the fact that the moon smells like gunpowder.
Or, nuclear batteries for your cellphone.
Or, that we're recently found that Mars has a gravitational effect on Earth. Are astrologers on to something?
Or, DeepMind can play Goat Simulator.
Or that NASA drew a giant penis on Mars.
I also read science and art magazines and web sites—The New Scientist, MIT Technology Review, Wired, My Modern Met, Cosmos, Colossal, Ars Technica among any others I can get my hands on.
This is what I think and write about. I hope to discuss all things science and fiction with you in the future.
I hope you will stick around and see what happens.
And, of course, you are always welcome to unsubscribe - no hard feelings.
It's fantastic to have your new newsletter to read and look forward to, David. And thank you for sharing your thoughts and for the book.
