Merry $#&!% Christmas
'Tis the Season
Merry merry, friends,
Hopefully, the image of a large burly man squeezing down your chimney brings you joy. And you woke up this morning to a pile of lovely presents under your festively decorated tree. Your house smells of sugar plums and figgy pudding, and you have a pleasant dull headache from a little too much merrymaking on Christmas Eve.
I wish these things and more for you on this day of days.
If that isn’t the case, take this email as an invitation to show the world how you really feel.
New research suggests that it actually is beneficial to cuss, to swear, to let’r rip like a longshoreman. To take a walk on the dark side. To unleash your naughty.
Letting out a swear word in a moment of frustration can feel good. Now, research suggests that it can be good for you, too.

I am all about doing things that make you feel good, especially during times when we might experience social anxiety, family obligations and strife, distracted drivers, rude shoppers, and all manner of off-color holiday cheer.
So, along with that extra piece of pie, indulge yourself in a few creative, heated declarations—for the sake of your health.
And while we’re thinking of the children during this holiest of holy times, be happy to know that the world’s riches man is doing the same:
Grok [Elon Musk’s AI product] has its priorities straight: it would rather sacrifice droves of children instead of its creator, Elon Musk.

All in the name of self-preservation. Who could blame him?
So, perhaps that Tesla you’re swearing at for nearly running you down is just doing its job, and it gives you an opportunity to feel good (see above).
Also, please try to remember that you might, inadvertently or on purpose, do something that causes someone to offer you a jolly expletive. Cherish the thought that when it happens, you have brought that person an unexpected special moment of health. Like a sour blast of goodwill.
Joy to the world!
Err, thinking about several events from yesterday, it does feel like people might already know this and are paying it forward, so to speak. Sorry about that.
Either way, happy holidays, and maybe let’s just try to be nice to each other. That’s healthy, too.
Happy reading, happy writing, and stay safe out there,
David
